questions on...commissions
Do you accept commissions?
Absolutely! Just contact me and we can go from there.
How long does it take to complete a commission?
I aim to create commissions within four - six weeks of the contract being signed. However it does depend on the nature of the project, and other projects I may be doing at the same time. Whilst simple projects can be created in a much shorter time, for larger projects the timescale could be longer. I will always discuss the timings with you at the outset, especially if you have a date you would like the commission for. If you have a requirement that has less than four weeks notice then please be aware you will incur an extra charge.
How do you work out your pricing?
For commissions, every price is individual, depending on the nature of the project. Time is always a consideration because each piece of art will take hours to put together, no matter how big or small. I will always discuss the price with you before quoting the project. All items must be paid for electronically, cheques and cash are not accepted.
How does the commission process work?
We discuss your requirements, and if you are happy with my idea, I will send you a contract to sign which outlines the project, the price and the time frame. 50% of the price is payable as a deposit before I start the project. Upon receipt of the deposit, you have 24 hours notice in case you change your mind. The deposit is only refundable during the 24 hour period. After that I will then begin work. Please note, I never send the initial sketches or pictures of commissions because ideas can change once I am working on the art. Once the commission is complete, I will photograph it and send you the image. If you are happy with the work, the remaining 50% of the price has to be paid. Upon receipt of the payment it will then be sent to you.
What is in the contract?
The contract will confirm the price and timescale as agreed with you. It also confirms that all rights of the art work remain with the artist, Claire de Souza. Work cannot start until the contract has been signed and returned.
Do you frame the art work?
All art work is unframed, unless you have provided a frame. I would be happy to advise on the frame I think could work for the art.
What shipping options are there?
All commissioned items are delivered using tracked Royal Mail delivery and sent unframed but packaged in eco-friendly packaging. Saturday delivery is not included, if you want this then there will be an extra charge. Please see the delivery page for more details on shipping.
Do you authenticate your work?
All commissions come with a Certificate of Authentication.
